We’re breaking up in 6months, so what now?
BACKGROUND - skip if you dare:
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2.5yrs now. We’re both undergrads and can only see each other a few times over the summer, and I cannot overemphasize that long distance does NOT work for us. Our summers are full of painful phone calls, misunderstandings, and almost-break ups then we get back to school and we’re (near) perfect. Despite this we have some life-plan differences and have an understanding neither of us see this as something that will last because we want different things.
However, he’s transferring to a school five hours away. It’s what’s best for him, and honestly I’m excited to see other people because I know it’s easier to meet people in college and like I mentioned he and I were never going to end up together after graduation.
SITUATION:
We’re in a weird limbo. Once he leaves we’re done... but that’s in 6 months! What do we do for six months? We’ve been trying to keep it normal but idk what to think??? Act like nothing’s different but also be there when he vents to me about how stressed he is about transferring?
If any of you have been in similar situations (closest common thing would probably be high school sweethearts you mutually weren’t following to college) PLEASE hit me up I am at a LOSS 😅💕
