Couples counseling??

Hey ladies. I’m thinking of bringing up couples counseling to my boyfriend but I’m not sure how to because I don’t want to offend him. Also, I want to know your experiences with couples counseling. Thank you in advance.

It helped me a lot. It could’ve helped us but he decided he didn’t want to go. We broke up shortly after that because we weren’t working anything out. It can be super beneficial but both people have to be on board and committed to doing what it takes, even when that means couples counseling. As for not offending him, you should be able to talk to him about any concerns or things you feel would help your relationship. If he gets offended that’s on him and exactly why the counseling could help you too. Being able to communicate is obviously super important.

My fiance and I went to premarital counseling. We had a great experience. We read the book the five love languages..  and even that helped so much. You both have to want it for things to change. Good luck!!

I would tell him that you’re interested in couples counseling to learn better ways to communicate with one another and to help understand one another’s feelings better. Let him know that it’s something you think could be very beneficial for your relationship. It’s very important to remember that in order for counseling to work, two people have to be on board for this and two people have to do the work. If one of you isn’t participating honestly in counseling, it can’t work.￼￼
