What the actual hell...

I think I'm a wack job. In the sense that I've come to the realization that whenever I hear the song Hallelujah...no matter which sings it...I burst into tears. Truthfully, I have no idea what the lyrics are except hallelujah, maybe it's how powerful the song is sang. Anyone else have a song or even a melody that just makes them cry without any significant meaning? This song has never been played at any funerals that I've been too...I just remember at about 14 hearing it and balling. I love the song so much, but limit my listening.  Pentatonix was the most recent group I heard sing it. I was a damn mess! Lol

Music basically communicates/influences your spirit, so even though you think it may be silly your spirit likes it. It is not wierd that people feel good when listening God related songs because it most of the time talks about hope, faith and good stuff.....and also our nature comes from God, so it is like your spirit remember where he comes from and gets homesick if we want to put it into words, just like when you remember good old times and want to come back in time just to enjoy that moment again. I went to church a lot (a lot) growing up...that's how I learned this and also this song sometimes makes me cry....if you feel comfortable while you hear this song next time give thanks to God for the good things in your life and also to help you with the not so good ones (in your mind, out loud, however you want) just in case,I didn't mean to bother you with Christianity, just wanted to give a possible explanation to your post. We sang it one year in chorus and it’s actually meant to show bitterness. There are a lot of bible references in it but it’s meant to express the original writers feelings about the secular world particularly loving and losing someone. It’s meant to be a sad and kind of sarcastic song. It’s a favorite of mine for multiple reasons but Rufus Wainwright’s version has always been the one I like best.
