Could it work?

Ma

So my boyfriend and I broke up after 2 years, about a week ago. I’ve concluded that it wasn’t working anymore because he wasn’t communicating his feelings, and because our priorities weren’t aligned anymore.

We’re both 21 in college, and I’m an accounting major with a part time job in tax, so that all keeps me pretty busy. I have to focus on school or I’ll fall behind very quickly.

He’s also a business major, but he really doesn’t prioritize school at all. He’s behind on his major, which isn’t a huge deal, but it will be if he keeps skipping class and ignoring the fact that he’s got no plan. He’s a bartender so he works a lot, but isn’t really getting experience in his field.

Because of the restaurant business environment, he started going out and partying more and more, and even went out on a Monday and stayed at the casinos until 6am. This is kind of what led to the breakup. He told me at maybe 1am he was going, after I hadn’t heard from him almost all day. He got annoyed that I was frustrated with his decisions, and we pretty much didn’t talk for 2-3 days and then broke up.

I love him with all my heart and I know we could work, but I think he would have to want it as much as I do. Am I wasting my time if I try to get him to understand that? If he learned to balance work and play, there wouldn’t really be such a clash in our priorities.

Let me know if you think it’s resolvable, or if I need to give some more info. All opinions are welcome
