Visiting a newborn during flu season?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone’s hospital has any rules regarding visiting rules right now with the flu season? 
I saw an article where some hospitals don’t allow kids under 14 to visit unless treated for the flu. 
I couldn’t find anything on my hospital regarding this, but I’m hoping they do have this rule as it makes it easier for me to tell people lol. 
Also, is anyone of you posting a note or enforcing rules of your own?

At my hospital, if you want anyone under the age of 13 to visit they have to have proof of their vacations. Im requiring anyone who will have contact with baby right after birth or continued contact have their vaccines they MUST also wash their hands before holding/touching. NO kissing at all! And smokers will not be allowed to hold right after smoking, baby don't need to be smelling cigarettes! Yes it's my first, and I may have a lot of rules, but they can deal with it!

I don’t believe my hospital has a policy about the flu, but the do have a sign saying no children under 14 with the exception of siblings. I imagine if you really wanted a niece/nephew to visit they would allow it, but I am happy to have an excuse to not allow children during flu season.

Even if they don’t just say it’s a rule lol kids don’t need to be coming to the hospital, too many germs, rooms are too small, etc.

I already have something to send out to everyone after the baby is born. Because of cold/flu season, I am not allowing any visitors to hold him in the hospital. It may sound harsh, but my husband and I are not willing to sacrifice our own comfort and the health of our child so that one of our friends/family can hold a cute newborn. Quite frankly, it isn’t about anybody else but our baby and his health. I know soooo many people who think they are going to get to “snuggle” him just because they know me and my husband 🤦🏻‍♀️ 
Just figure out what you want for your child, you’re the momma! Don’t worry about offending people. They WILL get over it.

No children under the age of 14 are allowed to visit at all unless they are siblings of the baby. And obviously if you’re sick or appear to be ill, they won’t let them back.

I’m not sure about the hospital I’m delivering at but I’m personally enforcing a rule where only friends/family who have had their flu shot and are up to date on vaccines can hold my baby. Everyone has to wash hands before holding him and nobody is allowed kissing him.

Usually it is under 14 cannot visit during flu season unless it is a sibling.  At least that’s what it is in my area.  They didn’t ask but was told we’d need proof of vaccinations for my kids to visit so we took them but never had to show anyone.
