Switching car seat?

Question

At what age did you switch from an infant carrier to a convertible car seat? 
My daughter is 6 months and I’m debating whether to go ahead and get a convertible or wait until she can sit up without any help.

When they are big enough to sit up in carts and strollers for shopping

My daughter turns 6 months on Thursday & we just switched today. She was about an inch away from growing out of it (2 inches from the top of the car seat) & she has been sitting up on her own for over a month so it was an easy switch

Im switching this coming weekend, he'll be 8 months on Friday. He looks squished in it and it's so heavy. I would have switched already but just haven't gotten to it.

6 months for my chunk and about 10 months for my premie baby.

7 months old but she hit height and weight for her newborn one

When my arm could no longer take picking up my son and the carrier combined. lol. He was a chunk, so as soon as he could sit up in a shopping cart solo, he was out of that carrier.

3.5 months. I HATED getting that thing in and out of the car
