Boyfriend doesn’t want anymore cats

My boyfriend and I have been living together for a year. I had two cats before we started dating and adopted a small dog, and later this year we found a German Shepard. Now we have four pets, but he said that even after my cats die, we will not adopt another cat because he doesn’t like them (he loves and takes care of the ones we have now and they spend a lot of time together as they sleep in his office). Is not wanting cats reasonable? I have always had many cats and can’t really imagine not having one around. But I understand he doesn’t want anymore - is that normal ?
