What do I do?

Question

What breed is this dog? His fur/hair is blocking his eyes, 😭. Where can I get him groom? Or, is it possible to DIY at home? What tools will I need? Anything will help. 😂 first time owning a dog, and my uncle gave him to my sister. He has like other dogs, too. I will ask him later... but... any advices from pet owners? (especially dog loves or expert or vet ) 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Definitely take him to a groomer! I used to work as a bather in a dog grooming salon, and grooming dogs like that at home definitely takes more work/supplies/expertise than most people have or expect. A bath and a good blow out will be important to keep his hair healthy, and it’ll be even more important to have his hair cut by professionals— do know that having a dog this breed requires monthly trips to the groomer to keep him healthy and looking good. Plus little dogs need their anal glands expressed frequently and their nails cut, two things that many groomers include with service!

You can definitely bathe him at home! Get some good soaps, wash him and then brush and dry him. If the hair is still in his face, you can trim a bit off:) no need to go spend hundreds at a groomer. Also, I don’t know very many breeds but he resembles my friends mini golden doodle. Or maybe even a poodle. Hope this helps!

Looks like it might be part Bichon or poodle. Look up groomers in the area and check out their reviews or see where your friends and family take their pets for grooming. Take him to a professional before you try home grooming just to make sure he/she is comfortable with the whole process. The last thing you want to do is put scissors near an animal that is jumping all over. Once you know he/she is comfortable and you want to try grooming at home watch some uTube videos to help you learn. You can buy all the tools you need at most pet stores or from Amazon. Then have fun styling your new buddy!

Cut his hair before you give him a bath bc baths can tangle their hair more. If I were you I’d shave him.

you can find really great groomer sets or just a comb and grooming scissors. That breed doesn’t need a full on shave/haircut. Just a trim every two weeks or so. If you’re not confident then go to a groomer
