Am I being selfish?

He's become an alcoholic. Unwilling to
Change or get help. I said I'd be here through good times and bad, in sickness and in health, but my kids happiness and safety is in jeopardy...so I gave him the ultimatum...shape up for our family or ship out. Was that too harsh?

Nope. I left my fiancé who is the father of my son because drugs were more important to him. I told him if he used again I was done. I left when I was 6 weeks pregnant. I am now due in 19 days and I haven't heard from him in months.

Absolutely not. You do not have to enable his behavior. However, you do need to realize that alcoholism is a very hard thing to come to terms with. Many people are functioning alcoholics (work, pay bills, and then get beligerent every chance they get). Your best bet is to support him if he accepts treatment and makes the attempt. You also need you need to receive counseling to help support him in the ways a wife should.

Definitely not to harsh he needs to grow up and be a man. I know it's an addiction and stuff but trust me all together bad environment for the child my dad was an alcoholic growing up and still is I never fully got the attention I needed and it traumatized me

My 8 yr old sons dad was alcoholic and I left him when our son was still small... Today he has cleaned up his act, not for me and not himself but for his son.  We are still not together but Im happy he got his life together for his sons sake!  Pray for him daily!
