Alcohol and breastfeeding/pumping?

Hey what’s the rule on drinking and pumping? If I have a glass of wine or a mimosa AFTER I pump, is that okay? I have been waiting like 2 hrs later to pump again as I’ve heard it’s our my system, if it was ever in it, by then? Thanks!

Well you can drink while you’re pumping as well so then you know it would for sure be out of your system by your next pump. I drank a glass while I was pumping and then 2-3hrs later I nursed baby. 
I’ve heard if you can drive then your milk is fine. I still try to put about 2hrs between feeding/pumping and when I had a drink just to be safe. You can buy test strips for you milk that tells if there’s alcohol in it but idk how accurate they are. I bought them with my first and basically tested the theory out and it was pretty accurate. If I had a beer or 2 there was no alcohol in my milk 2hrs later. But if I had like a 2 glasses of wine then there was a small amount in my milk 2hrs later.

That's perfect. A negligible amount ends up in your blood stream. My doc said the real risk w drinking is your ability to hold your child, care for them, etc versus the influence on your actual milk, so limit to just a drink or two.
