Night feeding?

Am

When do you get up at night to feed your baby? I know it’s normal for them to make noises in their sleep... at what point do you go to them? Do you wait for them to cry?

My boy will grunt, moan and move around a lot between sleep cycles, but if I check on him his eyes are still closed and I think he’s still asleep. If I pick him up he snuggles in and calms down, and after a minute or so cries to be fed. If I don’t pick him up, he calms down after a few minutes and continues sleeping.

I think I’ve done it wrong and mostly woken him up to eat, because I haven’t wanted him to wake up my husband. But he NEVER cries at night, so I’m worried he won’t? He has no problem crying during the day if I don’t feed him fast enough.

He went from 9 pounds at 2 weeks to 12 pounds at 9 weeks, so he’s gaining appropriately. I just don’t want him to be hungry overnight!
