So I re-applied for Medicaid on October 11th (my daughter was born in May and paperwork got lost through the office and some papers didn’t fax over I guess, I just found out in October my daughter hasn’t had insurance! They never told me anything until I went in after her doctor informed me no insurance was on file!) Well I got all my paperwork and everything turned in. On the application it said to check off which insurance plan I wanted my daughter to be on through Medicaid, but it said if I wasn’t sure or which one would be approved, to leave it blank (I went into the office and did this so I could make sure I was doing it right). I left it blank and they said they would choose a plan that would be approved for me. Well my daughter still hasn’t been approved so I called them today and asked the status of it, she said it was still processing! To this day! It’s almost December. I did the application in October. I know people who got approved right away so I asked what was taking so long. She said that it’s just still processing and I should’ve gotten a letter saying which insurance my daughter was going to be on through Medicaid, I haven’t gotten anything from them in the mail at all. I told her that and I made sure my address was up to date and it is. She said she was going to escalate it since it’s been over 30 days. My daughter goes to the doctor today to get her 6 month vaccines and still doesn’t have insurance! They said she could still get them and they will re-bill her insurance once it’s processed but it’s taken so long I feel like it’ll never get approved. I haven’t gotten an insurance card or anything. I knew something was wrong when I didn’t get her insurance card after she was born, but they never told me something was wrong even when I checked with them. Until October that is. So I just had doctor bills to pay off for all those months my daughter didn’t have insurance. I’m actually still paying them off. Medicaid only goes back and covers the last 3 months worth of bills. I just don’t know what’s taking so long and I’m so stressed. These bills add up and she needs her vaccines and to stay up to date with them.
