So my baby girl is 3 days old. While in the hospital I saw the lactation consultant. She said I should wait to start pumping until she’s 2 weeks....but my boobs hurt so bad!! Any other moms start pumping soon after?

But the more you feed the sooner you will regulate. If you feed and pump you will actually make more and really hurt! Try to feed the baby every time you are engorged

I personally have always started pumping as soon as my milk came in. 
Problem with pumping early: 
When you start pumping early you tell your body it needs to produce more milk. In the beginning your body doesn’t know how much it’s suppose to make so it kind of goes crazy and produces insane amounts. So if you pump you tell your body to keep producing that much. Sounds good right? Creates a killer back up stash. Bad side is breastmilk has to parts. The fore milk and the hind milk. Fore milk is the thin, watery milk used to quench your babies thirst. And hinde milk is the thick rich fatty milk used to fill your baby. Fore milk is like water. Hind milk is like the actual food. When you produce large amounts it’s usually high quantities of fore milk and less hind milk which fills your baby up more in the water and less on the food. Making them get hungry faster and can also lead to a foremjlk/hind milk imbalance. This makes a fussy, gassy, colicky baby. 
I’m a mom of 5. Best thing I have found is train your breast that you are feeding twins when you really aren’t or in my case really are 😂. Feed from one breast and pump the other. You get a large stash. This allows your baby to fill up on one entire breast allowing them to get the thick hind milk.

The more you pump, the more you will produce (because it’s all about supply and demand). And the more you produce, the more often your boobs will get full. 
So try to put baby to breast more often. Or you can hand express for comfort. But always massage the ‘rocks’ out, that’ll help you avoid clogged ducts and mastitis.

Get a hakaa to use for a few minutes just to relieve some of the pressure. You can also manually pump JUST for a few minutes until you feel better.
Pump for relief not for supply. That is what I did for two weeks until I started pumping.

Pumping will make matters worse. Plus when baby starts cluster feeding it’ll be difficult to keep up with the demands of your baby if you’re pumping and nursing. Most knowledgeable lactation consultants recommend waiting until 6 weeks. That’s usually when your supply starts to regulate and baby has established your supply. A Haakaa is a good alternative to pumping.

I started pumping instantly because my boobs were so engorged and there was no way an infant was going to eat that much. I don’t see a problem with it as long as you time it to where you’re full again when your baby is ready to eat.

My LC let me start at 3 weeks and I got a decent store built up between 3 and 6 weeks so that may work for you!

If u start pumping u ll increase your milk ..use cold compress like a bag of frozen peas to help
