FTM: Putting on diaper cream with no rash?

Hello, 
I have seen on YouTube mommy vlogs that say now that baby sleeps longer at night,  they put on diaper cream to avoid rashes. I've never heard of this,  is this a thing? If so what is the process? Thanks!

We use a light amount of vaseline. Protects skin against moister. Shes never had any rashes or discomfort and has been sleeping throught the night for a couple weeks now.

You can definitely put cream on even if they don't have a rash, as a preventative measure.

My little one had a rash and we used the desitin that is like Vaseline and it was gone the next day. Now we use it every time we change her because prevention is the best protection. We especially use it at night just to keep a little barrier around her so that she won’t be so wet, cause we know she sleeps all night.

We’ve never used a cream and never have had a rash. She sleeps through the night often!

Interesting! I havent had to use anything w my son yet (no rashes) but I might put a layer on before bed for prevention now that he is sleeping longer stretches. Cool i did not know this or think of it !

I try to (I forget sometimes) put Mama Natural Diaper Balm on him whenever I change a poopy diaper. Don't know if there's any science behind it but it's what I do, lol.

We always use burts bees after every change. In the beginning I used vaseline and she got a rash from all the frequent changes. Haven't had an issue since switching. It can definitely be used as a preventative as well as treatment.

I have a small container of coconut oil at the diaper changing table. I use this after bath in all his roll creases, and use if his bottom gets red and/or as a preventive. 
I try to avoid chemical creams. 
I don’t at every diaper change, but as a pp said - it’s good for bedtime, helps to have a barrier between their skin and the diaper which stays on longer overnight.
Poop diapers should be changed ASAP regardless (of course), but sometimes if they poop in their sleep, it also makes it easier to clean off.

Yes, every bedtime diaper I put diaper cream for my daughter then she doesn’t wake up for a change. This way I only change her when she wakes up for feed and definitely she sleeps longer this way.
