Baby squirming and unlatching
My little girl seems to be picky sometimes about breastfeeding. We’re both still new at this, she’ll be a month old on Monday. Sometimes if the latch is wrong, I notice she unlatches before I get a chance too. Other times when I feel like the latch is right, she’ll suck and then all of a sudden start squirming her head around and tugging on my boob with it still in her mouth. I have a good supply and she’s gaining weight very well (almost a lb in two weeks). Sometimes even with a good latch, after a few seconds, she pops off the boob. She doesn’t always seem frustrated or fussy with this and it doesn’t happen all of the time but I don’t know what’s causing it. Sometimes when I go to put her on again she fusses and gets pissed. Could it be gas? When she does this I burp her and then put her back on. She usually burps. Or I’m wondering if I have a fast letdown? How would you know for sure? I can hear her gulping pretty loudly at the beginning of feedings. She’s only choked maybe once or twice so she seems to be keeping up with the the milk. I’ve noticed when I pump that it seems to come out pretty fast at first and then trickles off slowly after about five minutes. Could she be frustrated with it coming out slowly after my letdown? I’m confused. This doesn’t always happen- yesterday we had a great feeding day all day. But this morning was rough where it was happening on and off for about two hours. Any thoughts, tips, or suggestions? Also, I have PCOS and my boobs hang outwards so I feel like sometimes it may be that the angle is odd for her to latch on? Any suggestions? Football hold and cradle hold seem to work best for us. I haven’t tried side lie yet as we’re still awkward at positioning.
