Thoughts?

Question

Say you take your child to her grandmas house and you find out later on she gave her a whooping and you and her never discussed anything about discipline when it comes to your child would you be mad or would you be okay with it because it’s her grandma ? I personally would I feel no one should discipline your child without your permission no matter who it is , thoughts ?

If my child is being watched by their grandparent, and I’m not present, I would expect who ever is watching my child to discipline them. If I’m present then I should be the only one disciplining. Just because im not around doesn’t mean there are 0 rules and my daughter can do what she wants. Her grandparents raised my husband and I and we turned out fine. I would expect them the handle their granddaughter the same way. I do feel like discipline needs to be discussed with any baby sitter just like feeding and bed time so everyone is on the same page

100% not okay. No one gets to hit my child for any reason just because they see it as discipline. Even if you spank your children I don’t think it’s necessary to let others do the same. You never know how much force would be used especially in a moment of anger. Yikes.

Hell no no one puts their hands on my child I don’t care who you are. I would talk with them and if they disagree I would no longer leave my child alone with them. I would also make sure my child knows to tell me jf anyone ever put their hands on them.

If anyone ever lays a hand on my child, I would go ballistic. They would be unwelcome to ever see my child again, no matter who they are. That’s personally my feelings on it.

I’d be livid!!!! And my kid would no longer go to grandma’s. And I’m freaking out about leaving my baby with my MIL because she already told me she would go against my wishes and give my baby when he’s a toddler cola.

I find it inappropriate since it was not discussed. However I do feel the term “it takes a village” includes some discipline. It would just have to be agreed upon amongst the family, whether it’s timeouts or what have you.
My grandparents, aunts & uncles had the right to discipline me if I was left in their care & didn’t follow the rules. 
But that’s just us. Some families don’t function like that. It goes back to the discussion & how important it is to you that everyone respects that parental boundary whatever it looks like for you.

I wouldn’t be okay with it if it I told her not to. But, that’s what that generation does and how they believe discipline should be. Also, if someone’s watching your child, that’s one of the main things that needs to be discussed ahead of time. If you didn’t clarify, then you really don’t have a reason to upset.

I wouldn’t be mad, but that’s just me. You have a right to your feelings but definitely should have discussed discipline with her before having her babysit.
