Would you have a gender reveal party?

My husband was really wanting to do a big gender reveal party with fireworks on New Year’s eve. We looked into how much that would cost, and YIKES! Definitely not spending that much money on this! Plus the soonest we can find out gender is December 23rd, so that only give a bit over a week for anything we’d order online to get to us. That cuts it too close for me!

If we have a party with friends and family, we can’t really think of any creative ways to reveal. The only thing I can think of that I haven’t seen done hundreds of times is having black balloons filled with paint on a canvas to throw darts at and pop. We don’t want to do a box of balloons or a piñata or confetti poppers or silly string or a cake or cookies with color inside. We don’t have older kids, so no worries on getting them involved. We honestly really don’t have any hobbies we could tie into it either.

Another thing I thought of would just involve our families. It would be unwrapping a gift that had either a pink or blue outfit inside. The problem there is getting all members of our families together at one time. We wouldn’t want to do it separately because then obviously we’d already know when revealing to the 2nd family.

My husband wants to do a party whether with just family or lots of people, but I am just lost on how to do it. This will be where we find out the gender also, we won’t know ahead of time.
