Is “baby daddy” or “baby momma” a derogatory term to you?

My brother in law called my husband “baby daddy” on thanksgiving day and my husband and I took offense to it a bit. Me because my BIL is a piece of work and him and my sister are very jealous of our lifestyle. My husband was a bit offended because my BIL is never home and never takes care of his children, so my husband felt like he was being insulted.

I call my husband my baby daddy sometimes 🤷🏻‍♀️ we laugh at it. But if it offends you, you’re allowed to feel that way.

Depends how they use it and who is saying it. Some say it as an endearing term but I feel like it’s used more with people who aren’t married/ in a really really long term relationship. Like I’ve seen it used more in relationships that 1. Didn’t last or 2. With a newly together couple because 1. Husband/wife isn’t an option or 2. Don’t want to use partner 3. Not angry or bitter enough to say my children’s father( only seen used with divorced or basically divorced couples or people who are a bit wasp). But if it’s coming from someone who is generally negative, they may have meant it as it being a “mistake” you got pregnant, derogatory as in your relationship isn’t that serious or if you have my in laws when they are trying to racist: saying it in a way that says because I’m black I’m automatically ghetto and you know how ghetto black women are

I feel like it’s so trashy to label someone as a baby daddy/baby mama. You could literally say “my child’s father”/“my child’s mother”. I especially hate when people are in a relationship with someone and still label them as a “baby daddy” but sleep next to them every night. 
I recently saw a post in here that said “from BD to fiancé” and I was just like wtf?? He’s more than a “baby daddy” clearly. 
My boyfriend feels the same way. He thinks it’s trashy and degrades the person.

My boyfriends sister calls me his baby momma😂 her and I actually have a great relationship and she also has 3 kids with her boyfriend of 10 years so she just uses those terms. I don’t get offend by it at all. I mean it’s true🤷‍♀️ some days he’s my baby daddy some days he’s my boyfriend lol.

Eh me and my husband don't care. Cause technically he is my baby daddy. He's the the one who fathered my daughter and son and he takes care of them so🤷 Besides, sometimes my husband gets nervous around people and doesn't think straight (he's called me his fiancee even after we got married😂).
