Are we to pay for EVERYTHING for guests?

My husband and I have just moved across the country 2 weeks ago, and his friend self invited himself to our house without letting us know ahead of time (pretty much just sent my husband his flight and saying he’s coming) then since he’s gotten here for the past 3 days, we’ve taken him out to eat 6 times and he has made absolute zero effort to pay at minimum for himself. He doesn’t say thank you that we pay for him, or make any acknowledgement. I’m just wondering if it’s a silent rule that we are required to pay for everything for visitors/guests? He’s staying here for an entire week, uninvited and making some crazy demands while here despite us only arriving two weeks ago and not really knowing where to go. Just super annoyed.

I’ve know people like this, another couple we met and after about 5/6 date nights and my SO fishing out $100s on dinners we would decline when they’d ask if we wanted to meet up for dinner and drinks. 
The first night or so yeah, it’s a treat but to not even say thank you is a real insult. 
Stop paying, see how quick his demands run out.

No, you don’t have to pay for everything, especially since he invited himself. I would just stop going out to eat with them. You can tell him you’re eating something cheap like spaghetti at home, or you and your husband meet up and eat and then tell the guest you guys already ate but that he’s welcome to go out and find food

He invited himself. For one that sounds like he knows he can do whatever he wants and you guys will tolerate it. Two, hes not really a guest if he wasn't welcome. He can pay his own shit. Your house is not his vacation home.

We just moved this past summer. We went our with my husband’s cousin and his wife who live near us now a few times. We each paid for our own food. That’s how it works.
