Toddler + baby sharing the same room???

Question

I am pregnant with our 2nd baby which will be born in June. 
Our 1st baby would have just turned 2 as the baby arrives. 
My husband and I are trying to figure out when it would be a good age for them to share the same room? 
Any of you ladies have any feedback on when you did it, how did it go? Any tips or tricks ?

My youngest was born two weeks before my oldest turned 2. She slept in my room with my husband and I for the first 6.5 months. I started sleep training her around 5 months old and waited until then to make sure she was sleeping (mostly) through the night consistently. I moved her into my son’s room over Christmas vacation because my husband is a teacher so he had time off just in case it was a tough transition. I had read a lot of horror stories of kids taking 2+ weeks to adjust to sharing a room and I was super apprehensive, but I’m happy to say that was absolutely NOT my experience! 
When I moved the kids in together, they were in a toddler bed and a crib. I had started napping my daughter in the crib a few months prior so that she was used to the room and waking up in it. I made sure both kids were on the same bedtime schedule and could go to bed together; I didn’t want to stagger bedtimes and risk my son waking my daughter up when I put him to bed. The first night, I think they talked to each other for an hour before they finally fell asleep. They are now 1.5 and 3.5 and love sharing a room! 
Yes, sometimes they wake each other up in the middle of the night, but they both know how to put themselves back to sleep so I will check on them and then leave again. I have a white noise machine that helps drown out noise that they each make during the night. You’d be surprised how deeply they sleep and how little things bother them once they’re out for the night.

My husband and i are in the same boat, and we agreed that the little babies will share a room, when the newest is on the same schedule as my toddler, and not waling up in the middle of the night. Until than, baby will atay in our room.

I don’t have experience yet but I definitely wouldn’t honestly. My first will be 17 months when my next is born. My reasons for saying no:
1. It’s recommended baby sleeps in a crib in your room for the first year. 
2. My toddler still doesn’t sleep through the night. I do not want to make it worse by putting a crying baby in his room. 
3. I would honestly feel bad for my toddler, being woken up by a crying baby every night. I personally don’t think that’s fair to him. 
When the baby becomes a toddler they will likely share a room but not while he’s a baby.

My boys are 18 months apart. I keep my babies in my room for a year, so the plan was to have them share when little one turned 1 and big brother was 2.5. 
Well we reached that point a month ago and they are NOT ready to share a room. They both usually sleep through the night, but if I put them to bed at the same time (in the same room) neither would fall asleep, they would keep each other up. If I put either one to bed first, guaranteed he would be woken up when I try to put the second to bed. I honestly think it will be at least another year before I could put them to bed in the same room, at the same time, and have them both understand that they need to go to sleep and not disrupt each other. So until then, they are in separate rooms.

Baby should be sleeping through the night and then do some trial runs.  I wasn’t able to room share my two girls until the younger sister was 2 because big sister kept climbing into the damn crib 😂 I moved them in together when little sister was in a toddler bed.  She was in my bedroom until then.

Room sharing is the norm here in NYC. When we have a second, she will stay in our room for the first six months and then share a room with her brother, who will be almost 3.

So my little guy will be 16 months when his little brother arrives. We kept him in our room to make over night feedings easier until he was 6 months and started sleeping through the night. (Oh how I miss those days!! Sleep regression is the worst) We plan on doing the same with our next little boy and then moving him into the room with his brother when he is mostly sleeping through the night so I don’t have two little boys awake in the middle of the night. We also want our older boy to be ready for a toddler bed so we don’t have to have a second crib. But if we need a second crib for a bit it’s not a big deal because my parents will let us borrow the one from their house.
