Is it normal

Is it normal for your period to be way more brown then usual. This past month I had way more pms symptoms then I’ve ever had and I got really scared I was pregnant. Well I started birth control back in May and had to switch brands in August. For the last three months I’ve barely had a period and it would last like a day and a half. This tim though I’m on day five and today it is incredibly brown but it’s not heavy. Is this normal?
