Would you go to a party without your boyfriend?

One of my friends, who is supposed to be a close friend is having a party and she didn't invite my bf so I asked if he could come and she said no coz too many people and I thought that was so mean so I said I wouldn't go and she said I was over reacting and I can have fun without him. What do you girls think? Do you go to parties without your bf or am I over reacting? (There will be a lot of guys there btw)
