I don’t know if it’s necessarily racist but I think definitely offensive and I’m curious what others think. My cousin is 10 years old and has a boyfriend (that’s an entirely separate issue I don’t agree with but not my point and not really my place) she is white and she told me her bf “is a brother” I of course assumed she meant that he HAS a brother or that he’s a big brother or something. My husband said he thought she was saying he was black and couldn’t believe she would say that. Out of curiosity I brought it up to her in front of her mom like “so does your bf have brothers or sisters since you mentioned he’s a brother?” She AND her mom burst out laughing at me and the 10 year old said “I meant he’s black stupid! He doesn’t have any brothers or sisters Hahahaha” I just can’t believe my aunt is okay with her talking like this let alone think it’s funny? Am I crazy?
