What’s a normal timeframe in which you should get your period back after stopping birth control pills?

After about a year taking pills my periods completely stopped with occasional spotting here and there. I stopped taking BCP last week of October and still haven’t gotten a period but have been having cramps almost everyday for a week now, some bloating and sore breasts (I’ve taken upt’s, not pregnant). But is this my body’s way of trying to get normal again? I’ve been on some form of BC for about 5 years so I’m just curious if my body doesn’t know what’s going on anymore. I might add though that I’ve always been irregular. I know it’s crazy. But anyone have similar experiences?
