When does colostrum come in?

I know breastmilk doesn't come in until after your placenta is detached and usually a couple days after birth. What about colostrum? Can you collect some before baby is due? I'm 39 w and dont plan to breastfeed but pump. So I am wondering if I can have some ready for baby when he is born!

You make colostrum while still pregnant and you'll have some when you deliver to feed your baby. Colostrum is such a small amount it's not really worth trying to collect its better to just nurse until your milk comes in before you get pumping

Colostrum is there way before baby is born, some get it at 20 weeks, some at 30 etc. I’ve been pumping it since 35 weeks , currently 37 weeks, incase baby needs to be separated from me after birth , but it’s there way before baby is even born XX

You might need to use donor milk until you can pump milk - colostrum is such a small amount it can be hard to collect. 
Be sure to do lots of skin to skin to promote the production of your milk! Good luck mama!
