Does anyone else’s child frantically gasp for air then has milk come out of their nose?? My son is almost 2 1/2 months old and he frequently does this while sleeping at night in his bassinet.

He did it once while we were in the hospital while I had him and the nurse in the room didn’t have any concern about it. and since we’ve been home he does it every now and then in the middle of the night while he’s on his back. During the day he never does it because he naps on his boppy pillow and his head is somewhat inclined.

After I feed him during the middle of the night I will keep holding him upright for awhile to let the milk settle.. it has been almost 4 hours since he ate and he just woke up gasping for air, I picked him up and he had milk come out of his nose once he settled down..

I’m not really sure if there’s anything I can do to prevent it or why he does it? I will be getting ahold of his pediatrician today to see, I just wanted to know if anyone else’s child does the same thing and what’s the cause??
