Any registered nurses here??

Question

Anyone else here an RN? I work at a hospital and I do like my job but now that I have my son it’s killing me working every other weekend and every other holiday. This will be his first Christmas and I’m working (granted he won’t remember it yet but I will plus I’m thinking of future holidays).  Anyone here an BSN, RN who has a job that doesn’t require weekends and holidays?

I switched to doing Pediatric home health after I had my second baby.  You pick the days and times you want to work and its possible to get matched with some pretty awesome families!  Pay is a little less than hospital (though they just did a company wide raise and now I make the same as I did at hospital).  My company is based in Massachusetts, called Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care if you are interested :). No weekends or holidays unless you want them!

I’ve been anRN for almost 11 years and I’m so tired of the extensive schedule and mandatory OT. Partner that with awful pay and the fact we rarely get breaks or even the chance to pee has me at my wits end. I even went limbo/prn but they are constantly hounding us to work. I actually went back to school and am two semesters away from completely my AGAC Nurse Practitioner. The pay is significantly better and so is the schedule. I cannot wait to finish up and start this new journey!

Look into clinics or an outpatient facility! No evenings, weekends, or holidays. They may pay less because it's "less skill" but it's also fewer hours.

I am a nurse in MA, I went per diem after having my son and I love it! there are still some weekend/holiday requirements but nothing like being part time or full time. You could also do case management type nursing or drs office.

I just switched from critical care/emergency for 9 years, to a cardiology clinic. It’s 4 10s, no weekend no holiday no call.  I even have opportunities to work from home. It’s pretty boring most days but after I had my son I was so over the hospital. Maybe try most any clinic? Good luck.

I worked critical care for years when I got pregnant I went to home health.  AMAZING!!! Great schedule and easy. Pay is good too

I'm an ICU nurse expecting my second child. I work the night shift and it's so difficult to stay awake sometimes especially since I'm cutting back on caffeine. Hoping I'll have more energy the second trimester! I know of people who work in insurance from home but I dont know how to get a job like that. School nurse is another option. Hope it works out!

I am a RN being away for 14+ hours on the days I work is killer. I feel like I miss so much. I try to avoid weekends. At my hospital we have quite a few nurses who only want to work weekends though. I got PTO for Christmas. When I do have to work on special days I just keep reminding myself he’s building a healthy relationship with dada too. And I definitely don’t waste time getting home to my men.
