Risks of IVF?

Question

I’ve been kind of driving myself crazy about the potential risks of IVF. My doctor told me to watch a video which I did and I also have googled. My main concern is the breast and ovarian cancer. Has your doctor ever stated these studies are inconclusive or it’s a possibility?

This never came up for me, but according to US National Library of Medicine says infertility is “per se” a risk factor for some female cancers, “most studies do not show a significant risk of these cancers with the use of fertility medications. Some studies, however have shown a possible increased relative risk of borderline ovarian cancer, although the increased absolute risk is small without a clear causal relationship.” 
It goes on to say:
“Data on the association between fertility treatment and cancer risk are limited, being mostly derived from observational cohort or case-control studies...methodological problems (sample size, heterogenous pops and treatments, multiple co variables, short term follow up)...
Overall most studies show that fertility treatments do not increase the risks of invasive ovarian cancer, malignant melanoma, or cancers of the endometrium, cervix, breast, thyroid, or colon...may moderately increase risk of borderline ovarian cancer although this risk is small with favorable prognosis if found.”

Answer

From my reading, they can’t tell if the increased risk is the infertility or if it’s the infertility treatments themselves. I figure it’s not a high enough risk for me to give up the possibility of being a mother.
