A few Questions! (LONG)
Hi all! I'm new so sorry if I break any rules.
I am 18 and think I may have endometriosis. My mother had/has it and hers was very bad. It got to the point that in her mid 30s she had to have a hysterectomy and it was stuck to other organs. She also thinks her grandmother may have had it.
My periods have always been super regular (when I had them). They were every three weeks on the dot and every period was at least 7 days if not 8/9. The first day was rough, the next two I was basically only surviving, then the last few I did alright but was in pain. No medication ever helped, sometimes heat would.
I started birth control a little over 2 years ago. I started the shot because it can stop your periods (and it has for me). Sadly I've been cramping more often randomly (I think). And, for sure, the pain gets terrible somewhere between 1 and 4 weeks before I'm due for my next shot.
Sex is somewhat painful, if its rough or deep it definitely hurts or I get sore fast. It's hard to get in the mood when I know it will hurt so it probably doesnt help.
Does all this sound consistent with having it? Could it be getting worse?
The second question has to do with fertility. Do you know any statistics/anecdotal information about fertility? I'm ahead of most of my peer group and have decided I kind of want kids as soon as I'm able, just in case of infertility. I wasnt supposed to be conceived and my mom had me in her early twenties so I'm a bit scared.
Also any tips on getting gynecologists to do surgery to diagnose you young? Both of mine put it off and say it's not worth it but I dont want to risk my fertility especially since it seems to be getting worse if I do have it.
Sorry for the very long post! Partial question and partial need to get it off my chest!
