Toddler obsession

This is probably the dumbest thing you’ll ever hear, but I just think it’s weird and I’m kinda concerned.

My son is 1.5 years old, he is OBSESSED with my dad. I’m not talking like runs past grandma to hug grandpa. I mean full fledged obsessed and it’s strange. If my dad is around Zane has to be with him. If I take him from my dad he will cry. If we leave my parents house it’s an entire meltdown. Every day he wakes up and asks for his Pap Pap. Every time he sees a tool, a dog, a truck, a grill he says “pap pap”. Everyday he goes to the door and says “BYE BYE!!” Waves at me then knocks on the door and says “pap pap”. When we are with my mom he will go up to her and make her pull up his picture on her phone. He will kiss and smile and stare at his picture for what seems like hours. If dad walks outside to get something my son screams crying. If my dad watches him and I go to pick him up and take him home ITS WAR.

Don’t get me wrong it’s adorable. But I’m concerned. I’m so glad he has such a wonderful relationship with his grandfather but I find it beyond strange he is so fixated on him. He’s been like this since 7-8 months old, & has gotten worse since he can speak now. Everything is about PapPap. It’s definitely past the point of being a phase.

Are any of your kids obsessed with mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, brother, sister, aunt, uncle etc?

Does this seem like a strange relationship to you? Should I even be concerned?
