MoDi and MoMo twins do run in your families?

I read that DiDi twins are most of the time genetics but they haven’t found a connection between Monozygotic twins and genes. Just curious to know.

It’s not that di/di twins are genetic. It’s the fraternal twins can be genetic as the mother needs to have the gene to ovulate more than one egg during her cycle. Identical twins are a random “thing” with no genetic link. However, some women are more likely to carry twins then others. For example, African Americans, women over the age of 35, women over 5’5” (or somewhere around there). Di/di twins are the only type that can be fraternal but 30% of the time are identical. So di/di identical twins would not be a result of genetics.

My dads an identical twin, my dads cousins are twins. My moms sisters are twins. My husbands bro and sis are twins and his cousins are twins. 🤗

I’ve heard fraternal twins can be genetic in general, my dad was a twin although I’m pregnant with mono/di twins. So I’m really not sure how it all works!
