A little rude...

As

So my work only has HSA insurance plans. There’s a base and a high. When we were trying to get pregnant I was on the high plan. This year during open enrollment we moved me to the base plan to have more in my paycheck but also we were not anticipating me having any medical bills. Well yesterday we find out I am pregnant with our second. We just had our son in June. So I go up to our benefits office and ask if there’s any way to change plans if you are enrolled in our coverage. She goes only with a qualifying event. So I go okay- is getting pregnant a qualifying event? She goes no...-an accident?! Shocked that I would be pregnant.

First off, yes this was a surprise. Unplanned doesn’t mean unwanted. I was just completely caught off guard that someone in HR would say that. And had we been planning (some people do plant on getting pregnant close together) I would be even more offended than I am right now!!! 🙄
