Family Drama - would you expect gas money from family who constantly ask if you can pick up furniture around your city?
My mother constantly looks on OfferUp for used furniture such as tables, couches, desks, etc. She is never satisfied with what she has and usually rotates every year (sometimes within a few months) the furniture she buys. My husband is the only one who has a reliable truck so she would ask my husband to pick it up for her. He’d pick it up and she would never offer gas money. My husband got tired of having to go after work to pick it up then haul it to her house then offload it, so he told me I can’t do this anymore unless I get something like gas money. (Btw she would borrow money from us to pay for the items then pay us back a week or so later). Only one time my mom gave us $10 in gas money because my sister had to tell her it’s the nice thing to do. But because of this, my mom thinks I’m greedy and selfish with money. It doesn’t help my husband and I are good with our finances and live comfortably, and she doesn’t. Are me and my husband being unreasonable, or was it fair to request gas money?
