When do you ask someone if they want kids/marriage?

I feel like asking men this question will scare them off.

Online dating I had it in my profile that I didn’t have kids and definitely wanted children in the future. I wouldn’t wait until being exclusive to have that conversation because I wouldn’t want to waste time getting to that stage if they didn’t have the same life goals as me. But that’s just me. 🤷‍♀️

I think there's a better way to word it so it doesn't come off as.... Fast. I guess i don't know how men take that question. Because a second date does seem too soon to bring up marriage and kids but it should be done before exclusivity.
It's totally ok to ask on a first or second date, "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Or "What are your life goals?"
If you have any close friends or family members who have kids or are getting married, you can probably ease those topics in more casually like, " my closest friend has an amazing little girl who turns 2 soon. Do your friends have kids?" 
The conversation can, from there be led into thoughts about other people's kids then onto feelings of kids in general.

I tell them before we even go on a date. Most people want a serious relationship to lead to marriage. I do not. So I make sure to make that known

Some of them even lie they want kids and marriage. It's not something you can easily find out, sorry. Not to mention the fact that people change over time, they might think they want kids and marriage but when they reach 35 they might think it's too soon and postpone the decision. I think you can have an honest discussion about what everyone expects in the future on any date.

It sounds way better to just ask them what they want their future to be like. Just straight to ask if they want a family someday. Saying the words “marriage” and “kids” sounds more frightening then just simply asking a vague question like “are you wanting a family someday”

It's a pretty big topic to throw on the first or second date so I would be scared to.
I would want a partner, not someone who sees me as an opportunity to get a child.

I would do it on the first date. I don’t think there’s a point of waiting to do it. It’s wasting my time if I want kids and they don’t. Sure people change, but it’s too big of a risk to take.
