Would you announce the name at the gender reveal?

We’ve had our boy and girl name picked for at least a year now and haven’t even thought twice about it, so we know those are the names we’ll use. My sister didn’t say the name until he was born, but he had a more unique name and is doing the same for her second. Do you think it’s okay to announce the name at the gender reveal or would you wait for a later date?

We did at the reveal because it seems like literally everyone in my family got pregnant round the same time (3 of my cousins, 3 of my sisters, and myself) so we sorta wanted to “claim” the name I guess (not like it really matters because our boy name was my grandpas name so it might get used by one of my sisters but we will still use it because i was the only one who spent time with him and I took care of him towards the end and everyone knew that that was out boy name)

It depends on the meaning behind the name I would say. If he/she would be named after someone, then I think it’s ok. We only told our parents when I was about 8 months along but didn’t tell anyone else JUST in case would daughter was born and the name didn’t fit lol it wasn’t exactly common and we had it picked out when we first started talking about having kids lol

Announce it whenever you want to, I think it would be cute to announce gender and name at the same time. But I do want to give you a heads up that people can be very ruthless about baby names. We told my in-laws the name we chose for our daughter and got so much hate for it so we changed the name and didn't tell them until 2 days before I got induced so they had less time to think about it.

With our first daughter we found out she was a girl at 9 weeks and  told everyone the name as soon as we had fully decided on it. I can't remember exactly how far along I was at that point but it was between 24 weeks and 32 weeks. With our second daughter we knew 6 other woman that were pregnant and due before me and I was scared that if I told people the name one of them would use it. It isn't the most common name so I knew they probably wouldn't just come up with it on their own. We just told people we were still deciding and wanted to keep the choices to ourselves until then. We really didn't decide on her middle name until like the week before she was born.  It changed three times during the pregnancy but the first name always stayed the same.
