Being induced/cervix pill?

Anyone induced and had to have their cervix ripened first? And I mean like completely closed not even a finger tip. I have to go in tomorrow night to start the pill and I was wondering if it’s safe for dad to stay with our toddler at home over night and return in the morning or if he should stay the night at the hospital? That way we don’t exhaust our babysitting options. How quickly can things get moving with just the pill? It’s my second baby but my cervix is long, tilted, and closed.
