We are 8+1 this is our first and we really want to tell ONLY our parents for christmas or new years mostly for support...but our first appointment isnt until january 2nd .. do you think it's safe to do so?

A good piece of advice I have heard is to tell whoever you would want to know if something were to happen. It sounds like your parents would be a form of support to you, in good or bad outcomes, so I don't see a reason not to tell them!

I told my parents right away. What are they going to do? I had one loss and they were really supportive and they love seeing my rainbow this time around.

I agree with the pp...  we told my parents at 5 weeks for support.. and since hubby is mostly out of state for work we are happy we did. Best of luck!

It depends what you mean by safe. I’ve already told our parents at 5 weeks and I’ve had two losses. They know about one. To me, if we lost this baby, it would feel worse to me to keep the whole thing a secret from them than to have them know. A few of my friends know as well because, likewise, I am comfortable with them being in the know, regardless of outcome. This baby is a part of our lives and our family’s story, whatever happens. That said, if this is not something you’d want your parents to deal with or know, then may be better to wait until you see the heartbeat when the risk of loss lowers substantially. Or the end of the first trimester when the risk decreases even more.
