So I’m 9 weeks pregnant. I want to announce to my immediate family at Christmas but I want to wait until mid January to tell my work. Im scared my work will somehow find out. Is this an ok plan? Or should I go back into work (I’m on holidays) and tell my boss?

Your employer has no legal right to ask you or question if you are pregnant and you legally do not have to tell them. If they give you any issues or even try to ask you about it please contact a lawyer! Know your rights mama- we have laws in place to protect us.

So I am a paraprofessional at an elementary school and I have a great relationship with my principals! They new when I was 6 weeks because I have had two loses and fertility treatments happening. I also work with autistic students who can become aggressive so I am no longer allowed to help them when in crisis so I have to call up to the front office for assistance so they definitely would’ve known something is up. They were very supportive though. I think it depends on your relationship with your boss and also what kind of work environment you are in. But if you are on holiday break definitely just wait till after😊

I announced to most family on thanksgiving, I was 8 weeks. I figured my family would be understanding and supportive if something were to happen.

I’m telling family on Christmas and I’ll be 9 weeks. I also have my first apt later this that week. Assuming that apt goes well, I plan on telling my supervisor shortly after that. My immediate supervisor is great. I would like to give a heads up like my last pregnancy so they understand why I will be needing some flexibility with Apts and such.

With work I had to tell a couple of people, I’m a nurse so certain assignments weren’t appropriate to take. Otherwise I would have hide it further along. So your call. Immediate family knew just not to post anything. As far as social media, we aren’t doing anything til bloodwork comes back after 12 weeks. It’s preference really and who can keep their mouth shut lol

Sure it's alright. If they use social media though, tell family to wait with putting anything on it cause you still want to tell some people in person.
Only reason you should tell work immediately is if your tasks can be dangerous to pregnancy. Eg working with toxic materials, heavy lifting, etc. In that case, you can't continue the same, and they need to know why.

I'm still on maternity leave and 11 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. I went on a works Christmas meal when I was 8 weeks and I took her to one side and told her because our 12 week dating scan is 30th Dec and I wanna do a social media reveal on NYE but as I'm friends with work people and not my manager I thought best to tell her before the gossips went running to her.

Ill be 10+5 when we tell our parents on Christmas.. extended family including siblings and friends won’t know til late January and my work at some time in February or March. I’m pretty sure I don’t have to tell them until 6 weeks to the due date (Canada) - I could be mistaken on the exact weeks.
