Is being induced as bad as some people make it out to be?

I have PUPPS and been very uncomfortable these past few weeks and my doctor said it was find for me to get induced at 39 weeks. And she told me I could be induced around the 21st or 22nd about a month and as soon as she said that I told my mom and mamaw that I wanted to do it then because of how uncomfortable I have been and I wanted her here before Christmas. So today at the doctors she gave me some dates to pick from to be induced and I picked the date of the 22nd to be induced. And my mom and grandma honestly embarrassed me because of the way they acted about me wanting to get induced instead of waiting and “letting her come when she wants” they kept trying to talk me out of it saying I shouldn’t “force my child out by pumping her full of drugs” and they “never had to be induced” (but both of them had their kids 2-3 weeks before their due date & they’ve never experienced PUPPS either so they don’t really understand the discomfort I’ve been dealing with. She’s so low it hurts to walk and I’ve been stuck at 1 cm for over 2 weeks and not making any progression. I haven’t had any contractions not even Braxton Hicks. So the doctor said I was progressing as quickly as she would like.) They said all this in front of the doctor which was kinda embarrassing. And the doctor was telling them that there’s new studies out showing that it’s healthier for babies to be born at around 39 weeks. And they were acting like I haven’t had time to think about it when I have been saying for over a month since the first time my doctor said I could be induced that I was going to do it. And I honestly think my doctor kinda got frustrated with them and said “well the final choice is of course hers but I’ll give you a few minutes to talk about it” and then they started researching induction horror stories and showing me how women go through so much more pain and difficulties with being induced & idk why my doctor would suggest me to be induced if it wasn’t safe. All she said was that my labor would probably last longer than if she came naturally. Is getting induced all that bad?? I want to hear some stories from people that have experienced it since they never have
