10 days late

I am 43 years old & the first time in my life I am trying for a baby. I know my odds are low but we are still going to try! I am currently 10 days late on my period. I took my first (ever) pregnancy test yesterday & it showed negative. As I am new to all this, could I still have a positive if I take another one, say next week if I’m still late! I was told this could happen depending on my hormones!

Our next step, we are considering is IVF if this doesn’t work within a year, we’ve been trying for 6 months now!
