Definitely the Spectra S2 (or s1). Medela is the more popular brand but the Spectra is a better pump and quieter. The lactation consultant that I worked with did a suction strength test and said that it was operating at hospital grade performance and said she found it was the pump that most
women said worked well for them.

Make sure you get a closed system and not an open system. Closed means the milk never touches the tubing or the pump (the suction mechanism is on the flanges and not the side of the pump). In the open system, the milk can end up in the tubing and the pump. It can be a source of bacteria and it is much harder to be sure it's clean. I use spectra. The pink one has to be plugged in; the blue one can be charged and used without the cord. That is why there is a price difference between the colors.
