Stay home or go?

Question

Let's say you have a friend and completely hate their SO or the idea they are getting married: know there is domestic violence, know she was married for a few years while they were dating, whatever. Do you still attend the wedding to support your friend, or stay home because you cannot stomach them being legally married.

If you don't particularly care for him? Go.  If you don't care for him because he hits her? Stay home.

I would go so she knows your always there for her whether you support her decision or not. Just let it be known that your only there for her

Go BC she asked you. You don't really have an opinion on their marriage if that's who she wants then fine, you don't have to talk to the guy, just let her know your there for her and always will be even when it doesn't work out

Go. When all this falls apart she will need you. She will need you more so if there is domestic abuse. Hold onto your friend for her sake, which might suck from your end right now but she needs to learn from her own mistakes.

I'm not attending his wedding. This isn't a whiny "I don't like you do I'm not going" thing, it's a "he beats your ass regularly and I won't support that thing". If enough people don't go maybe it will cause the wedding to stall so she has more time to escape.

I would still go. Not in support of the marriage but in support towards her on a day when maybe she could use a friendly face.

I had a friend who was going to get married to a guy I knew wasn't right for her, she asked me to be her MOH and I told her no. I said I'd go but couldn't be part of it. She's your friend whether you agree with her decisions or not. Sounds like she's going to need a friend when things go south.

She is ur friend n I get it I wouldn't want my friend to marry a guy who abused her or treated her bad but she is still ur friend and like him or not go and support her

If I just didn't like the person I would suck it up and go. But if this violence involved I will not go. I will tell her why cannot go and let her know that I will still be her friend and be there for her when she needs it but I cannot go to that wedding.

I would be where you're at, but I would support her no matter what. I won't necessarily support the relationship, but her. She is your best friend and she needs to know you have her back, even if you don't agree and she's making a stupid decision. I'm hoping that one day she does come to her senses and in that moment she's going to need you and your support. I would go, but make your intentions known. I'm not here to support the marriage but I'm here to support my best friend because that's what friends do.
