When do I start testing

I ordered ovulation strips and a bbt thermometer from amazon to start tracking tomorrow. I just had a 5 day cycle after not having a period for 6 months due to high prolactin levels. I think I may have already ovulated prior to the first test? When do I start charting bbt and would I be able to tell if I did in fact ovulate if I temp tomorrow? I’m new to this. I only used ovulation strips for ttc my rainbow and we got lucky first cycle so I’m lost on how to confirm O. Any help would be appreciated !
