Was your labor like your sister’s/moms/grandma?

I’m having my first baby in July and thinking about the labor process. I feel hopeful because my sister’s labor went very quick. My mom also has quick births with her 3 kids. And my grandma also has quick births. I’m hoping I fall in their footsteps. However, my mother in law had a very long labor that ended in a c-section. I’m hoping my husbands genes don’t play a big roll in the labor process.
Did your labor process mirror the length and what happened with the women in your family? I’m just trying to get a sense of how common it is to have similar birth experiences as family members.

Sadly mine did not.  My mom had 4 pretty easy births and my husbands mom also same.
I just spent 36 hours in labor that ended in a c section.  So for me personally there was no similarities at all.  
And I hate to say this... because it won’t help any anxiety you may have about it, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.  You hear that first cry and see that little face and everything else doesn’t matter anymore.

My labor is way easier then my mom and sister’s. My mom and my sister have long labors and painful. My labor usually lasts only 4-5 hours and only have pain in the last hour. I also don’t take epidural for personally reasons. 
In the other hand I have the worst morning sickness compare to them.

My mom was induced past her due date with me and my brother and had long labors. I naturally went early and had a fast labor. But in your case, I will hope for you that it does follow the labor of the women in your family lol.

My mom was in labor with me for 36 hours, my grandma was in labor for around that long with her first too, I was only in active labor for 6 hours with my first 🤷🏼‍♀️ my aunt has fast labors though, usually 4-6 hours, so if I’d say I labor like anyone I’d say her. I’m gonna have my second any day now and I’m hoping for another quick labor.

Mine was almost identical to my mums. Both were less than 12 hours with no complications. We both had natural, unmedicated births.

Maternal grandma had 4 fast natural births. Mom had 2 natural births, 38 hours and 13 hours. I had to be induced due to gestational hypertension that turned into pre-eclampsia and after 75.5 hours of unmedicated labor (besides pitocin for 3 hours) I had to have an emergency C-section under general anesthesia.

From my understanding it’s your own genes that make up te labor part so if the women in your family like grandma and mom had easy labor should be the same but remember that every child(pregnancy) is different...

I’ve always wondered this. My mom had two c-sections (me and my brother) 
She came to one of my appointments one time and the doctor actually asked her about her first labor - my brother, 2 weeks late ending in c-section because and cord was wrapped around his neck so hoping it’s not entirely true. 😬

My mom had to get induced all 4 times after the due date, my sister got a c-section because she didn't dilate at all, my first was out really easily without any need for meds and i was only induced with my second because i wouldn't have been able to do a vaginal birth if i'd waited until she came on her own.. if i didn't get SPD with my second i likely wouldve had an easy time with her too! This time it started earlier and worse so not sure how delivery will go for my third. But definitely differently from my family! I'm the only one in my family who has gone without pain meds!

No not at all. My two older sisters have all c sections when they “failed to progress” after “too much time”. Second sister was induced with hers and took 12-18 hours. Mine I went natural and took 20 minutes lol
