Do you get annoyed when someone calls you colored?

Like seriously, being African American does it annoy you when someone calls you colored or uses terms like "colored folk". To me it is absolutely annoying!

Even as a white person I am offended by that word. It is so 1950's and it was not used as a kind term then when racism was at its worst. There are so many other proper and polite ways to describe race if it needs to be described at all.

I guess I don't get annoyed/offended by much. Usually when I hear that term it's from older people like 65+ , it's just what they are used to saying, they were part of a different time and for the most part, at least from those I've delt with, they mean no harm.

My husband is black. He hates being called colored. He's an officer and so he gets it a lot from Older people.. Most of them mean well, but it doesn't make it any better... He's a good sport about it from the way older people but it's still aggravating

I'm white but I hate that term. To me it just reminds me of the 50's when signs would say "No Colored People Allowed"

My husband is black and on his birth certificate it has his parents race as colored..

I hate being called "colored". Do I look like a freaking coloring book? Am I a freaking rainbow? Just call me black, please.
