Sleeping Arrangements. How do y’all sleep with your newborns?

Our baby will sleep soundly in her rocker but they say it’s not safe to leave her there without supervision so we take shifts. Or we put her in her bassinet which she either will sleep in or absolutely will not. When she does sleep in it she grunts all night passing gas. I can’t sleep through the loud noises unfortunately. Plus I feel like I need to check in on her. So when it’s my shift normally we will sleep in the recliner together. With a pillow on either side of me to prevent her from falling off my chest. It’s always went really well besides my neck killing me. However I hope I’m not putting her at risk for SIDS. I feel like it better having her on me because I can feel her breathing and if she does make any noise I wake right up to check on her. 
What do y’all do and what do y’all think?

You have to do what works for you and your family. If you know you're keeping her safe, ignore all the negatives out there and don't let yourself feel guilty.

The recliner is the worst option. So many more babies die when someone falls asleep with them on a couch or chair than when they do planned bedsharing (much easier to get stuck in cushions, or fall off, or something else). 
If you need to sleep with your baby, look up how to safely bed share and just do that. You're not doing yourself any favors sleeping in the recliner. It's much much safer just to sleep in the bed together if you're careful with things like pillows and blankets and if you have a decently firm mattress yourself. 
Personally, my baby mostly sleeps in the halo bassinet but sometimes does end up in bed with us. To be honest, we'd probably have him in the bed more often if we didn't also have my toddler climbing into bed with us all the time - she will not be careful with him so it becomes pretty unsafe.

I honestly can’t talk I’m a lot worse my baby refuses I mean absolutely refuse to sleep longer than an hour in her bassinet so I actually let her start sleeping with me and I feel absolutely terrible but that’s the only way she’s sleeps

I ride it out in the bassinet. It sucks at first, but they soon adapt and sleep longer. If he has trouble with gas, I highly recommend gas drops. It helps them pass it with more ease. We also use a probiotic to help with overall digestion. 
Just my 2 cents, think long term about the habits you form for them to sleep. Do you really want to still be doing this is 6, 12 or 18 months? It’s easier to put a newborn back to sleep than a toddler (trust me!) so it’s probably beneficial for you to just tough it out now versus later.

We sleep with her and facing her since she was born. Just recently we started transitioning to the pack and play when she falls asleep for the night and that’ll last for 2-3 hours. She even took a nap in it today. Just be safe with the pillows around your munchkin. ☺️

I have a cosleeper cot in my bed. It works like a charm for us. I can literally lay right beside it with my hand on the baby to comfort her and sometimes I put my face up to the mesh side and look at her and talk to her to help comfort her.

He sleeps with us when he’s going through a leap and being very clingy or if he’s sick. Right now he’s both lol other than that he sleeps in his pack n play

Flat on their back is always best, but I know that can be rough if they won't do it. My little guy also makes a lot of noises in his bassinet (grunts, whimpers, wiggling around) but sleeps long stretches in it once he got used to it. It's funny because he won't sleep at all during the day unless someone is holding him or he's in the car. As far as sleeping in your arms at night, the more head control they have the lower the risk, but the issue with sleeping in a recliner with pillows is that they could slide and get trapped and suffocate if you fall into a deep enough sleep (which is more likely to happen if you get too sleep deprived if you aren't sleeping well). Do what you have to do, but I personally recommend trying your best to get baby to sleep independently. It may take time for her to adjust but it's the safest.

My husband and I have a good arrangement so we both get sleep. We have a bassinet in the living room which has turned into his nursery. My husband watches our son and gives him a bottle of pumped breastmilk and I sleep from 9pm-3am. Then I swap with him and he sleeps until 10 or 11am. I can sleep in the living room while baby sleeps but my husband cant since baby makes little noises that keep him awake. Probably only works if your partner has leave also.

I have been bed sharing with my little one. I never thought I would bed share because I'm terrified of SIDS and potentially rolling over on him. My son and I sleep so much better when we are together. When we realized this I looked up ways to make it safer. I luckily have a king size bed so there is plenty of space for him to put down on his back in between my husband and I. My husband and I both sleep on our sides with our knees bent towards the baby. This is to prevent rolling over. We have also removed all of our excess blankets and pillows.
I do still try to use my bassinet. At the beginning of the night my son starts there and then usually around 3-4 hours he will wake up to be changed and fed. If he is fussy I put him in our bed. If he is content he goes in his bassinet.
This is just what I have found works best for us. Just do what you think is best for you and your baby.
