Engagements

I have a question for the ladies who got engaged. I was talking to my SO about getting engaged, I've always said I don't want to be proposed to with a ring because I'm extremely picky and honestly I'm such a rude person that i can honestly see my self hating it if its not perfect.... He says it doesn't matter, and that he already has two ideas and i can either like him or not get engaged. Basically my question is has anyone not liked the ring? Or were you just so overwhelmed and happy you couldnt help but love it? Also add a picture!
