Embryo Banking - # to shoot for?

We’re in the process of embryo banking. My baseline for my second retrieval is next week. Due to having more fragile embryos, we’re freezing at day 3. The first round was a few weeks ago and we were able to freeze 4. Hoping for similar if not better results for this next cycle. 
Does anyone know if there’s a rule of thumb for how many to shoot for? My dr mentioned 2 embryos per kid if they’re PGS tested. These aren’t obviously so assume the goal would be to bank a lot more than that. Anything your offices have shared with you? 
Hoping to not have to do a third retrieval. But we’re open to it and just getting it done with. The retrieval’s seem to be the worst on your body so I’d rather get them done sooner even if we end up not needing all the embryos. Seems like a good “problem” to have. That said... I think three retrievals is my limit!

I think you get as many as you can.... I guess I’m not sure what you’re asking. You don’t get to really choose how many embryos you get, they retrieve as many eggs as possible and of those you keep whatever ones make it to freeze. 
I had 31 eggs retrieved, 19 fertilized and 11 made it to freeze. 8 of those were PGS tested, 5 were normal so we had 8 embryos frozen. I got pregnant on the first try so we have 7 left. I had no choice in the matter, we just got what we got.

We are planning on a FET. We currently have 2 embabies frozen (after pgt). Our doctor wants at least 4 before we transfer. 
Headed into our 5th retrieval. Meds started today!

More is better but not always realistic. I am perfectly healthy with no issues and my husbands morphology is perfect (just low count and motility which was overcome with ICSI) and I only had 11 eggs, 9 of which were mature, 7 fertilized, and only 3 made it to blast. I’m pregnant on the first one we transferred.

It depends on how much money you have for retrievals if you’re self pay, or how much insurance will pay for if you have it.

I’m in a similar situation and was planning to ask my nurse coordinator or doctor. I’m sure in an ideal world the answer is the sky is the limit. But statistically, I would hope they can offer more guidance. If they recommend 2-3 PGS tested embryos per kid, I’d be willing to guess they’d recommend double that if embryos are not tested. Even a very young and very healthy person is unlikely to produce 100% perfect embryos. But again, my medical degree is from Dr Google! As for more retrievals, my friends who have gone through IVF have all said that the embryo transfers are easy compared to the retrievals. So the fewer you have to do the better. But if you have to do several, I think there’s something to be said for getting them done and out of the way and then the transfers can happen whenever. It’s hard on your body and also just the scheduling of it all. Juggling appointments, shots, work etc. is stressful. Gotta remember to take care of you! 💗
