Can’t do this

I have PPD and I don’t get seen by a therapist until January. That’s the earliest they could get me in. I’m having such a hard time right now tho. I cry so much, I’m so sensitive, I get irritable really fast, I scream and yell a lot. I’m just over it. My husband and I fight a lot because I get irritable so easy and so fast. When my daughter is literally screaming her head off I get irritated and angry because nothing I do soothes her half the time and it causes me to cover her mouth with my hand to stop the screaming for just a second. I was doing fine on not covering her mouth and now I’m back to doing it again. I don’t want to hurt her I just want the screaming to stop for a second because it is so loud and high pitched that it hurts my eardrums. I feel so awful for doing it that I cry afterwards and wanna just be done because she doesn’t deserve it or me for that matter. I’m so scared she’s gonna remember me being like that and end up hating me.. I’m just having such a hard time right now...

Listen, I know you’re having a hard time, but you cannot put your hand over your babies mouth. You need to understand in your mind that you do not have permission to do that. If you need to walk away, put the baby in a safe place and go in a different room and put some earplugs in for a minute. Don’t touch that babies mouth again. Talk to your doctor about getting on medication if you cannot wait for a therapist.

And in my opinion, when a couple has a baby, they need to expect to be woken up by cries. It’s a baby for goodness sake, it cries.

I have never put my hand over my child’s mouth, and no one has ever put their hand over my mouth either. I was taught to keep my hands to myself growing up. If somebody put their hand over my mouth now, I’d knock them in the face. No it’s not fucking OK to do that.

Shushing is different than forcing a baby to be quiet. Do you want someone putting their hand over your mouth to make you quiet?

I remember feeling this way, i was 17 when i had my first. I never covered his mouth but i fell like i was going crazy. I would put him down and walk away for a few. Come to find out he was very gassy and in pain. I started putting warm wash rag on his belly and laying him over my lap to help and it did. Take a deep breath... this wont last forever. ❤️

I’m so sorry you’re going through this Momma!! I would reach out to your OB and see if they can get you an immediate appointment. If they can’t, you can go to any local ER and tell them what’s going on. They will have you evaluated by a mental health professional and get you the immediate help you need. I’ve been an ER nurse for almost 11 years and have seen this many times. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom or person, it’s simply your hormones doing awful things to your mind. BUT there is help! Thank you for reaching out to us and I truly hope you feel better soon! ❤️

Go to the emergency room and they should be able to help you. I don’t remember much from back then but that’s what I did. I went to the emergency room twice. The second time they admitted me and I was able to get help that way. I don’t think people realize just how bad postpartum depression can get sometimes and it can definitely be enough to warrant yourself a trip to the hospital.

Can you make an appointment with a gp? Or your ob? I would suggest starting there and maybe getting on some type of medication in the mean time. It could reall help you

Are you serious? This is a horrible thing to tell someone who is clearly suffering from post partum depression. She needs help and this comment isn't it.

Do you have a friend, family member, husband, boyfriend ANYONE to give you more than a five minute break? You NEED to find some time to gather your thoughts in these tough times. PPD is hard, no it’s a bitch that nobody talks about after having a baby, and it’s one that’s incredibly common. Please when those thoughts of putting your hand over her mouth gets to you, walk around, walk outside for a minute for fresh air, (MAKE SURE BABY IS SAFE BEFORE HAND) call a friend, neighbor, anyone you trust to help you and baby. Also, is your baby fussy for gas? Have you talked to your pediatrician babies only way to tell you something is wrong is from crying, does baby have an upset stomach, did you burp baby long enough, is baby wet? If you done the checklist making sure baby is healthy and it’s just colic go to your doctor, go to the pediatrician, talk to a friend or family member. You are getting emotionally hurt but baby could be hurting also maybe it’s the formula, maybe it’s colic, or possibly GERD (acid) just please understand that this will pass. We don’t get a manual when baby is born we learn by trial and error. This will pass, just be patient and please, please I beg you get someone to help you with baby until you meet with your doctor, and the pediatrician just to make sure everything is okay with baby. Momma, you can do this just understand this will pass. ❤️ Baby needs her momma, and momma you need some help from family, friends, and a doctor.

Have you seen your OB? Usually they will get you in immediately if you call and tell them you're struggling to cope. Maybe they can help you get in to see someone sooner, or even get you a prescription for something to help?

Can you call and make an emergency appointment? If you explain to them what is going on they can get you emergency help. Do you have any family or a friend nearby that come over? You sound very sick and need help now. Sending love💕
