Boyfriend said i don't come first to family & friends

Quick background: been together 4 years, living together 3 years, bought a house, getting engaged April 2020 (yes we planned this out for reasons that are irrelevant to this post)

So i opened up to my boyfriend about how i feel like he puts me last when we are out or when people are over. By this i mean, if we are with friends or family, he will go out of his way not to talk to me or to have conversations with me. If i try to join a conversation he will talk over me or cut me off or change the topic. When we are out of home, i pretty much feel like a little puppy dog following him around. I ask him why he excludes me when we go out, and that if that's the case why do i even join him out?

He told me that "when we are out my friends and family come first always"

And i was kind of taken back. "Putting friends first" and "making me feel unwelcomed and awkward" are very different. I explained to him he makes me feel like a loser kid who no one wants to be around. He pretty much ended the conversation saying that they will always come first and then went on to say that his mom will ALWAYS come before me. (He is a mommys boy) and this has me thinking about our entire relationship. If i feel this way now, it probably won't change after marriage.

Is this a common way of thinking? I don't expect him to wait on me hand and foot, but damn if I want to join a conversation, why can't I join the conversation? I'm starting to realize that he doesn't put me first any place.

How do i address this? How do I tell him I want to be his first priority without coming off as controlling and conceited? looking back, I've made so many sacrifices for him, including not seeing one person from my family so that he could spend all Christmas / eve with his mom.

When will this stop?
